DJ Cuppy is actually a beautiful Disc Jockey with so much international recognition before taking a shot at singing.

She’s not your regular Alaba mixtape DJ, so, it’s okay if you don’t appreciate her DJ skills.

The daughter of Nigeria’s top billionaire businessman, DJ Cuppy started trying out singing in 2017 when she dropped “Greenlight” featuring Tekno.

Fast forward to 2018, she continued with the song “Abeena” featuring Kwesi Arthur, Shaydee & Ceeza Milli. She also sang “Vybe” featuring Sarkodie and among other music works to her credit.

DJ Cuppy‘s early shots at music met with a whole lots of negative criticisms, just because she always make efforts to have a verse on her songs, something most notable Nigerian male DJs don’t do.

No one appreciated her for that.

How She Got It Right With Gelato

This year 2019 is no doubt an already fulfilled year for DJ Cuppy. After several years of trying, she finally got a song that made it to the mainstream, competing hard with other hit songs.

Now, I think it’s high-time, we set something straight, Zlatan didn’t make “Gelato” a hit, the song was going to be a hit with or without Zlatan.

Nigerians love money and everyone likes to associate with wealth and riches, therefore the entire narrative of “Gelato” made the song a hit.

This is the first time in DJ Cuppy‘s career that she will be flaunting her father’s wealth and become really proud of it in her music.

Something that has been Davido‘s major strategy since he got blown with the song “Omo Baba Olowo” in 2012.

Probably, DJ Cuppy allowed herself to be defeated by “what people will say” syndrome or “they will say I am proud” thinking.

What Dj Cuppy Should Start Doing At This Point

With “Gelato” and Cuppy Foundation project, DJ Cuppy is definately on the right path.

She has been able to brand herself as a successful entertainer with kind heart and genuine interest in helping less privileged children across the nation.

Talking about music, DJ Cuppy needs to start considering putting young and talented upcoming artistes on, this will surely place her above every other female artistes in the music industry including Tiwa Savage.

Helping people and assisting young talents have been the major key to Davido’s success in the music industry.

Some say money is the root of all evil but I will say money is the root of all greatness.
